The influence of hormones on your appearance Charlotte Labee Supplements

The influence of hormones on your appearance

Our hormones play an important role in regulating the body's various processes and functions, including on the outside. That means that when our hormones are out of balance, it shows immediately in the skin, hair and nails.

Thus, our hormones are involved in almost all processes in the body. If imbalance occurs there due to, for example, stress, toxins or unhealthy diet, then (as with the intestines) imbalance occurs in our entire health. A healthy lifestyle is therefore essential to keep the hormones in balance, which also allows our skin and hair to shine.

Our hormones affect our appearance in the following ways:

1. Sebum production

Hormones, especially androgens such as testosterone, affect sebum production in the skin. Excessive sebum production can lead to oily skin and acne, especially during puberty when hormone levels change significantly.

2. Skin texture

Hormones can affect the structure and texture of the skin. For example, during the menstrual cycle, hormone fluctuations can cause changes in skin texture, such as smoother skin in one period and irregular texture in the next.

3. Skin sensitivity

Hormonal changes can affect skin sensitivity. For example, women often experience changes in skin sensitivity during the menstrual cycle, where the skin may be more susceptible to irritation and inflammation.

4. Skin aging

Hormones also play a role in skin aging. As we age, levels of hormones such as estrogen and progesterone decrease, which can contribute to the appearance of signs of skin aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles and loss of elasticity.

5. Skin conditions

Hormones can affect the development and worsening of certain skin conditions. For example, hormonal fluctuations can contribute to the development or worsening of acne, rosacea and melasma.

6. Hair Thickness

Hormonal imbalances can cause hair problems. For example, during pregnancy, hormonal changes can lead to thicker, fuller hair, while hormonal fluctuations after childbirth can cause hair loss. Hormonal conditions such as polycys- teus ovarian syndrome (PCOS) can also cause hair problems.
