Do we really need supplements?
When I changed my lifestyle a few years back, I never thought I would start my own supplement line. In fact; I thought supplements were the biggest nonsense. 'Healthy eating is enough' I thought for years. In all the training I took I found out that nothing could be further from the truth....
People with a Brain Balance lifestyle also experience deficiencies in essential vitamins/minerals. How is this possible?
1. Soil impoverishment
Economic industry has played an increasing role within agriculture over the years. The downside of mass production and revenue optimization is soil depletion. As a result, crops contain fewer nutrients every day.
2. Processed food
Today, most of the products in the supermarket are processed. During the processing process, nutrients disappear and chemicals are added.
3. Less local production
The road from the land to your plate is getting longer and longer. Every day that passes after harvest, fruits and vegetables lose a bit of their nutritional value. It is still best to get your fruits and vegetables from the local farmer.
4. Hormonal imbalance on the rise
More and more people are struggling with hormonal imbalance; men, women, old and young. One of the important causes we then look at is a lack of the right nutrients. Our bodies are able to convert certain nutrients into hormones. It is not surprising that a lack of these causes an imbalance. Also, we unfortunately see more and more hormone disrupting substances in plastics, medicines, sweeteners and dyes, among other things.
5. Little outdoor air
Whereas during our millions of years of evolution we were almost always outside, today we are mostly inside. So in our consultations we often see people who have suffered a vitamin D deficiency. After all, sunlight is an incredibly important source of vitamin D.
6. Free radicals, toxins and chemicals
How healthy you eat, how much you exercise, how often you meditate; we all have to deal with free radicals. First and foremost, we find these toxins in cosmetics, (cigarette) smoke, air pollution and heavy metals. Fortunately, our body does everything it can to eliminate these free radicals. However, this requires a lot of energy, and it just so happens that we need nutrients for energy.
7. Low-grade inflammation
Many of us today struggle - consciously or unconsciously - with low-grade inflammation, our immune system is constantly active. The body is constantly crying out for extra nutrients and consuming enormous amounts of energy.
8. Stress
Healthy eating does not guarantee the absorption of these nutrients. This is because our digestion plays an important role here. Currently, many people suffer from poorly functioning digestion due to high levels of stress.
In short; just healthy eating is not enough. Measuring is knowing!
