How to get rid of my skin problems

How do I get rid of my skin problems?

Skin problems can have a huge impact on your self-confidence, as well as cause a lot of frustration. Whether it's acne, eczema, dry skin, gray skin, wrinkles or other conditions. You feel like you've tried everything, or just don't know how to get rid of it now. It seems like an endless quest to find the right solution to be able to look happy in the mirror again. The cause of skin problems often lies deeper than you think, namely within. Everything that is not right in your body, be it your hormones or intestines, manifests itself in your skin. Fortunately, we explain to you in this blog what you can do for recovery.

Most common complaints of skin problems

Skin problems come in many different varieties. Whether you have them yourself or recognize them in someone else. Here is a summary of the different types of skin problems:

  1. Pimples and acne. Pimples come in many shapes and sizes. Even to severe acne. Our therapist Joyce talks more about this in a video explaining what helped her get rid of it.
  2. Itchy and irritated skin with eczema: The skin may feel slightly itchy or even burning. Several causes may underlie it, such as improper use of makeup, improper diet or improper cleansers.
  3. Dry skin and/or flaking: Dry skin is sensitive, flakes often and can be itchy. Sometimes your skin can even "crack." With fair skin, you may also experience redness.
  4. Dull and/or gray skin: Dull, tired, sallow or gray skin. All names that show that your skin does not look energetic and radiant. You skin lacks color and you notice circles on yourself.
  5. Excessive oiliness: where others complain about dry skin, you are more likely to suffer from excessively oily skin. Annoying impurities can appear, such as pimples and blackheads. Your skin cannot handle the excess sebum production.

It can be super annoying if you are walking around with these complaints. Therefore, it is important to take these complaints seriously, because they not only cause physical discomfort, but also bring emotional obstacles.

Causes of skin problems

So what could be the cause behind your skin problems? We like to list here some possible causes. Of course, this is different for each person and you can best find out through a personal consultation.

  1. Hormones out of balance: our hormones play an important role in regulating the various processes and functions of the body, including on the outside. This means that when our hormones are out of balance, it shows immediately in the skin, hair and nails. Learn the extensive article on hormones here.
  2. Wrong food: Lots of sugars, lots of fats, wrong fats, lactose or pork... Every person has his/her own sensitivity to food which leads to skin problems. When you eat a lot of sugars and processed foods, it can cause inflammation in the body, which causes acne and other skin problems. It is important to discover what triggers skin problems in you from the foods you consume.
  3. Gut and Your Health: Our gut tells us an awful lot about how our overall health is doing. They are not called our second brain for nothing. The gut is literally a mirror of our health. An unbalanced gut flora results in increased permeability of the intestinal wall, which can cause inflammation. Healthy gut flora has been proven to contribute to glowing skin. Read more here.
  4. (Unconscious) stress: The stress hormone cortisol can lead to an increase in inflammation in the body and a deterioration of the skin condition. Not for nothing do we see more skin problems in people with a lot of stress in their lives. Think acne, dull skin or even premature skin aging. In addition, stress disrupts your sleep, which in turn disrupts skin repair processes at night.

Solving your skin problems

Of course, there may be other underlying causes behind your skin problems not mentioned above. For example, medication can also have a major influence on disturbances in your skin. Every person is unique and that is why we do not recommend taking supplements or changing your diet, but first do a personal analysis of your situation. What could you do about your skin problems? We are happy to give you advice:

  1. Rest in your hormone balance: a hormone test can provide a solution to find out if your hormones are out of balance that are causing your skin problems. We then bring your hormone balance back to the right level using supplements.
  2. Dietary Adjustment: Avoid sugars and processed foods. Go back to nature's core when it comes to nutrition. That's where we find our nutrients. Focus on a diet rich in antioxidants, healthy fats and nutrients such as vitamins A, C and E.
  3. Improve your gut health: choose a high-fiber diet and possibly supplement with a pre/probiotic regimen to promote your healthy gut flora.
  4. Reduce stress: practice meditation, breathing exercise, yoga or a walk in the woods a little more often. Lowering your cortisol levels will also help your skin recover better.
  5. Care and cleaning of your skin: Do not use harsh cleansers, only mild and moisturizing variants. Preferably a variant that suits your skin type. Feel free to get advice on this, as this is also something that is not the same for everyone.
  6. Schedule an orthomolecular consultation: By working with an orthomolecular therapist to look at your skin problems and discover the causes, we can give you the best advice for recovery. We look not only at your vitamin levels, but also at what your life looks like, where your needs lie and how you can have radiant skin again, full of energy.

Addressing skin problems requires more from you than just slathering on a cream. We understand that this process can be difficult for you. We are happy to guide you through this process to ensure that you are full of energy and self-confidence. Only by adjusting underlying causes will you create a long-term result.
