Liver health tips

Support your liver with the following tips

In our previous blog, we explained to you how your liver, the builder of your body, works. In this blog we take a closer look at how you can optimally support your liver during a detoxification process.

Don't go detoxing

The capacity of being able to detox properly or not depends on many factors. Many people swear by detox cures by just drinking juices or doing a liver cleanse cure with bittersalt, for example. Much can be said about the ways of detoxing, especially also that it is not always recommended. After all, if you already have little energy or do not have the right nutrients in your body at the right level, then detoxing can exhaust you even more and even put a huge strain on you.

Ways to support your liver

Below you will read how to further promote effective detoxification of the body in a safe manner:

  1. Support your digestion and gut flora

Choose healthy, preferably organic food without e-numbers, eat more vegetables and drink plenty of pure water. Abstain from alcohol and excessive sugar.

When the intestinal flora is disrupted, waste products also accumulate in the gut. Therefore, support the gut through pre and probiotics and high-fiber fruits and vegetables.

  1. Release toxins from the fat cell

Toxins are stored in adipose tissue, this is the safest place according to the body if they cannot be completely drained. Polyphenols are substances that increase metabolism and stimulate fat cells to release toxins; consider sources such as vegetables, fruits, good olive oil and green tea extract (also Matcha).

  1. Stimulate the detoxification capacity of the liver

Detoxification enzymes in the liver render toxins circulating in the blood harmless. These processes need nutrients as a resource, as described earlier in this blog.

The algae chlorella and spirulina can also help get rid of toxins. These are then excreted through the bladder and bowel.

  1. Active sweating is important

Sweating during exercise ensures that toxins are properly transported. Move for at least 30 minutes every day in such intensity that you sweat well. Visiting the sauna or taking a very hot bath also helps to sweat extra.

  1. Reduce your meal frequency

If you have a maximum of three meals in a day, including snacks in between, make sure that you don't eat anything for hours as well. This way, the entire digestive system and especially the liver will get the necessary rest in between meals to recover and regenerate.

  1. Relaxation and stress reduction

Get enough sleep because at night the liver helps to balance your blood sugar levels. This allows other organs to continue to perform their functions during the night as well.

Stress and simultaneous detoxification do not go well together. During stress, the liver, again because of gluconeogenesis, supports the fight-flight response because it demands more glucose. Other tasks then go on the back burner.

To summarize, to give the liver a helping hand it is important to eat well, exercise (sweat), eat less often, relax and support detoxification with vegetables, fruits, seaweeds, herbs, green tea extract, pro-biotics, B vitamins, proteins, fibers and enzymes.
