6 fine tips for a relaxing morning routine

Over-stimulated and stressed, we are all too often in our current society, unfortunately. But symptoms such as brain fog, fatigue, decreased focus, lower libido or a short fuse are not normal and often the cause of an overstimulated brain.

An easy way to not give an overexcited brain a chance is to adopt a nice, calm and loving morning routine. Because tell me? If you start your day in a hurry, this rushed feeling will work throughout the day. Start in the morning calm and relaxed and benefit from this throughout the day!

We share in this article 6 fine tips for a relaxing morning routine:

1. Exercise, preferably in nature

In nature, you can enjoy yourself for a while and both your brain and body come to rest. The greenery, the birds, animals, even the leaves falling in autumn ... by starting in nature, you start the day relaxed and without stimuli.

Starting the day with exercise, preferably on an empty stomach, provides extra energy throughout the day. You can opt for the gym, but of course you can also get some exercise in nature!

But for example, take a brisk walk or roll out your yoga mat outside in nice weather. We don't change the fast-paced world, but we do change how you deal with it as a human being.

2. Prep your meals (and supplements)

Often we want to eat healthy meals but it falls through during the (busy) day. By preparing your lunch and any snacks in the morning, you are less likely to reach for unhealthy meals and snacks. And this is important, because the food on your fork determines how your brain, gut, immune system and hormones function. Nutrition also affects your energy levels, how you handle stress and inflammation, and how your genes develop and change.

You can also prepare your supplements in the morning, for example in a pillbox. If you are already conscious about your health and the right nutrients in the morning, you will benefit throughout the day.

3. Start your day without a phone

Are you aware of how late to late your phone is part of your life? Many people start as early as 6 a.m. in the morning with the first action of the day: turning on the phone, checking the news, going through WhatsApp and social media for a while... So you start your day immediately with an overkill of data that your brain has to process right away, you give it an instant dopamine shot, after which the brain immediately says: I want more. After all, dopamine is addictive.

Start the first hour of the day without a phone, give your brain a break and enjoy the peace, the moment and the relaxed feeling the rest of your day.

4. Write in a journal

Journaling is one of the best things you can do to start your day in a calm and orderly fashion and change negative habits. By writing each morning about what is going on inside you, you will discover what issues need your attention that day.

A major characteristic of an overstimulated brain are negative thoughts and brooding. Writing down these thoughts and emotions helps to get them in order and literally out of your head. This creates calm, reduces your stress levels and makes you aware of what you need to change.

So start the day with a nice cup of matcha tea and write away!

5. Meditate

Meditating reduces stress and anxiety and there are even studies that show that inflammation is reduced at the cellular level by meditating daily. In addition, meditating improves your concentration and memory, increases your compassion, provides better sleep and strengthens your immune system. By starting every morning with a meditation, it will become one of your most valuable habits, believe us!

6. Set an intention for the day

By setting an intention for the day in the morning, you support your brain toward more positivity, more energy and less overstimulation. It provides guidance to start each day from peace and mindfulness. Examples of intentions are:

"Today I choose to do everything with joy"

"Today I focus on gratitude"

"Today I am proud of myself and the people around me."
