Is stress good or bad?
We often associate stress with something negative, when in principle it has a positive function. Stress hormones such as adrenaline, in fact, allow us to perform better in important situations. This makes you, for example sharper and more alert for a presentation, deadline, exam or appointment. Short-term stress is therefore not not bad at all,After all, internally we have a wonderful system that regulates our stress levels - after a period of stress, the parasympathetic nervous system provides rest and recovery.
But where does it go wrong?
Nowadays, many people experience stress situations that last much longer than 20 minutes, whereas our biological processes are set up for an acute stress state that lasts a maximum of about 20 minutes. But endless to-do lists, approaching deadlines and the many balls some of us have to keep high, cause that the stress system is sometimes on from morning to night. And that has unpleasant symptoms as a result.
