Your blood contains several fatty acids of which omega 3 is the most well-known. Next to these, you have to think about omega 6, saturated and trans fatty acids. Omega 3 fatty acids and a good ratio between them are necessary for cardiovascular health. The omega 3 index test shows how many omega fatty acids your blood contains, provides insight into whether there is a healthy ratio with the other fatty acids and gives personal advice.
The ratio of omega 3 and omega 6
The average diet in the Netherlands contains too much omega 6 and too little omega 3. Omega 6 can be found in meat, dairy products and vegetable oils. An excess of omega 6 promotes inflammation and can therefore cause health problems.
The ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids (omega 3 to omega 6 ratio) therefore has a major impact on health, as these two types of fat have to compete for the same enzymes to convert them into useful substances for the body. Research shows that when the ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 is not right, there is a greater risk of cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, depression, diabetes and obesity.
What is tested in an omega 3 blood test?
The omega 3 index test is a comprehensive test that looks at the essential fatty acids in the blood and also gives an insight into the amount of all other types of fat in the blood. This blood test therefore looks at the amount of omega 3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids in the blood, among other things. In the case of omega 3, a distinction is made between: ala, dpa, epa and dha. The omega 6 fatty acids are broken down into la, gla, aa, dta, eicosadienoic acid and docosapentaenoic acid-n6. If there is a shortage, this breakdown immediately shows where improvement is possible. The test also looks at monounsaturated fatty acids, saturated fatty acids and trans fats. In short, a comprehensive blood test that looks at all the fats in the blood.
Testing your omega 3, how does it work?
Would you like to know whether your blood contains sufficient omega 3? The omega 3 test gives you an immediate answer. It is a self-test that you can easily perform at home with a finger prick. You receive a test kit with which you can take a drop of blood yourself. After sampling, you send the test kit back to a certified laboratory. After the analysis is done, you will receive a detailed result with the result, additional information about omega 3 and the ratio between omega 3 and omega 6.
What can you do with the result of a fatty acids test?

Where do you deliver?
We deliver in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France. Would you like to order something and have it delivered to another country? Then contact us for the possibilities!
When will my order be shipped?
For orders placed before noon, we try to process and ship the same day. So delivery will usually be 1-2 business days later. Do you place an order over the weekend? Then we will process it the next business day.
We ship with PostNL and upon shipment you will receive a track & trace code from us so you can track your package.
If you are not at home, the parcel will be offered again. It will then be delivered to a pick-up location.
What are the shipping costs?
Within the Netherlands we use 2 different shipping rates €4,95 for a package €2,95 for products that fit through the mailbox, such as books. FREE shipping for orders over €40,-.
In Belgium, shipping costs are €4.95 for a book and €6.95 for a package.
In Europe, shipping costs are €12.95.
Outside Europe, shipping costs are €24.95.

Can I return my order?
Return conditions
You have the right to revoke the contract within a period of 14 days without giving reasons. The revocation period expires 14 days after the day you take physical possession of the good.
