In our hectic world, where stress and tension often prevail, many people are looking for ways to experience inner peace and balance. An effective and natural method to restore this balance is to discover and activate pressure points. In this blog, we dive deeper into what pressure points are, what benefits they offer and how you can use different pressure points to improve your overall well-being.
What are pressure points?
Pressure points, also known as acupressure points, are specific points on the body to which light pressure can be applied to relieve various physical and emotional symptoms.
Every person has 12 main meridians in his or her body, which you can think of as energy channels running through your body. These meridians are all linked to organs, and by stretching a meridian you activate it. When you treat a specific pressure point, you are actually activating the meridians twice and so this accelerates your body's self-healing ability!

Fall is a good time to pay some extra attention to your immune system.
Your immune system protects you from all kinds of diseases and helps you stay healthy. For a well-functioning and healthy immune system it is very important to be able to let go of stress and this can be done for example through specific pressure points which we will share later in this article.
The benefits of pressure points
Treating pressure points can be used for a variety of benefits:
Stress Relief
By applying pressure to specific points, you can reduce stress and promote relaxation. This helps calm the mind and improves overall mood.
Pain relief
Pressure points can be used to relieve pain ranging from headaches to back pain. By activating the right points, you can experience natural pain relief.
Improved sleep
By stimulating certain pressure points, you can improve sleep quality. This is especially helpful for people who suffer from insomnia or irregular sleep patterns.
Relief of emotional tensions
Pressure points can help reduce anxiety, depression and other emotional stresses. Activating these points stimulates the release of endorphins, making you feel happier and calmer.
5 pressure point exercises
We like to share with you 5 fine pressure point exercises, each with a different purpose. From relaxation to energy and from getting rid of toxins to getting rid of headaches.
The exercises are most effective when you perform them for about 2 minutes, but every little bit helps!
1. Pressure point for relaxation
Around your wrist you have a lot of pressure points that are important for relaxation. Namely those of your heart, colon and lung meridians. Place your right hand around your left wrist and then rotate your left wrist. This will activate the pressure points in your wrist and allow you to relax more. Then do the same with your left hand around your right wrist.
2. Pressure point for more energy
At the top of your sternum is the thymus gland, which shrivels after puberty. But according to Chinese medicine, this does not mean that this gland can no longer be stimulated. By tapping your sternum with two hands, you activate the thymus gland and get more energy.
3. Pressure point to clean up your inner system.
On the side of our body, at the level of the bra strap, is the end of the spleen meridian. By making tapping movements there with your hands, you activate this meridian. Because your spleen is responsible for getting rid of bacteria and viruses, in this way you clean up your inner system.
4. Pressure point for draining toxins
With inflammation, your lymph nodes set up first. These are located at the top of your neck. Gently place your knuckles on the bone below your ears and gently stroke down toward your collarbones. This will help the removal of toxins and relaxation of your lymph nodes.
5. Pressure point headache
Headaches can be caused when your liver and/or gallbladder detoxify. Put the fingers of both your hands together, but keep your thumbs free. Place your palms on the back of your head with your thumbs down and look for 2 "dimples" with your thumbs. Stimulate these dimples by massaging them with your thumbs. This way you will allow the energy to flow through there again and the headache will decrease.
